Dissolving Dermal Filler

Hyaluronidase is an FDA approved injectable enzyme that can be used to speed up the body’s natural breakdown of dermal fillers.

Most Dermal Fillers in the UK contain hyaluronic acid. Fortunately, hyaluronic acid can be dissolved using hyaluronidase. The filler breaks down within minutes meaning that any treatments using Dermal Filler can be fully reversed.

This is commonly used when:

  • An area has been overfilled

  • The filler has moved or spread to other areas.

  • Dermal filler has resulted in unwanted bumps.

  • The client is left with asymmetrical results.

  • Allergic reaction has occurred.

Treatment FAQ’s

What to expect after the Hyaluronidase injection?

The area may be swollen for up to 2-3 hours. The more hyaluronidase used, the more the area is likely to swell. The full results of the dissolving treatment can usually be seen 3-7 days, however the enzyme will continue to work for 14 days.

Will the filler be dissolved completely in one session?

Depending on the type of Hyaluronic acid filler, some may need more than one session to fully dissolve. The client will be reviewed post treatment to ensure the desired results have been achieved.

Are there any side effects?

  • There is a possibility of an allergic reaction. For this reason, a patch test will be carried out prior to the treatment.

  • Temporary mild swelling in the treated area.

  • Temporary skin laxity from fast deflated areas in the case of large amounts of filler being dissolved.
